Reflective Essay 4

In this easy, I will talk about three statements of three famous persons and I will explain them in my own words. These three statements change many of the roles in our style life and we cannot imagine functions without them. The persons that I will describe their statements are Shake Zayed, Martin Luther King and Shakespeare.

Firstly, Shake Zayed said that “Many countries go to war and then towards reconciliation. The history of mankind is full of stories of wars between people and states that have come together after fighting for long. Why can't Arabs be like them?” and that means that many of the countries that have union it comes from many of wars, so why Arabs after many wars they didn’t be union. For example, the United States had in the past many of wars and now they are union and have strong country.

Secondly, Martin Luther King states that “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character".This means in the future there will be countries that not have racisms but they will judge by the characters. For example, in the United States the roles changed from racism of colors to equality.

Finally, Shakespeare says that “to be or not to be, that is the question”. This means you should prove to the people you have a lot of skills that can help the people in their life and do not allow the people to ignoring you.

In conclusion, from what has been mentioned above we can see that there are a lot of negatives and positives of these three statements. However, in my opinion I think these three statements give us many of the benefits that improved our relationship with the people and the life.

Ethnocentrism task

Ethnocentrism

1.      On the lines below, write a definition of Ethnocentrism using your own words.

It’s when the people see that his culture is better than any other cultures. For example, people in America believe that their cultural is the best and this is because they think that their country is the most powerful county in the world and they think that they have the best economy in the world. Therefore, it may effect to other counters.

2. Read the cartoon. How is Ethnocentrism reflected in the conversation below?

Write your answer on the lines below.

The cat ( Bucky ) is upset because the man was watching a program about other cultures. It’s clearly shown that the dog refuses the idea of preserving other cultures. He also believes that his culture is the best and he won’t need to learn about the other cultures.

  3. Looking at the cartoon characters.

Imagine them in social situations. What kind of people would (would n’t) they associate with? What kind of events (movies, shows) would (would n’t) they prefer to go? Think of other situations.

Describe Bucky

In my opinion the cat ( Bucky ) will not going to work with people who are different from his own culture because he thinks that his culture is the best and there is no more to learn about. It seems that the cat will exclude the historical shows and visiting places in which the exhibition of other cultures is taking place as well.

Describe the man talking with Bucky. Let’s call him Tom

Tom has especially thought which he is respecting other cultures without focus on the negative and positive behavior which accept they own culture. And he has ease way to deal with other people in other societies and it depends on the metal of the man.

4. Drawing Ethnocentrism.

On a separate sheet of paper, make a drawing of Ethnocentrism. You don’t have to draw well.

My comment about the song

To begin with, the song that called “Where is the love “. And it comes from the Americans hip hop they called them “Black Eyed Peas”. It’s very nice songs and it’s describe to us that the true life that we faced in nowadays which is racism and discrimination. And I found another song that talking about stop the racism in our life.

[Tony D]
Style within yes, there is no goal too grim
I teach the way yo, to match the color of my skin
So get it right y'all, my family had to organize
Comin over on a boat you see they had to realize
that they were one yes, in a nation of so many
Nationalities of people, knowledge we had plenty
as an equal, but still some considered us an outcast
Names like guinea and wop, is what was used in the past
to describe us nonetheless we kept our head up
Knowin in the future we shall all drink from the same cup
Unity is what I'm strivin for G, so let it be
Ebony and ivory in our community in harmony
Livin, perfectly together as a whole
From the bottom of South Africa to the North Pole
When I look at a human you can say I'm color blind
Cause I see them with my eyes but I judge them with my mind
Stop racism

[Tony D]
Hardheaded individuals say media blow up
is the cause of all racism, it's mentally throw up
So grow up and learn that the problem exists
Like Markie said, we gotta unball our fists
and put away the bats and throw away the knives
and get rid of the guns, that can hurt the lives
of our children, you see I pray for the future
It was once quoted, to let knowledge uproot ya
To build as one, and elevate and keep climbin
Stop racism, the cause that I'm rhymin
I can't wait for the twenty-first century
It's gotta happen now, cause that's the way it's meant to be
But you say how, can we do this you gotta put your mind to it
(From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/t/tony-d-lyrics/stop-racism-lyrics.html)
And know like Bo and just run right through it
My conclusion to the topic will be racism MUST end
Apartheid you're THROUGH with the message I send
Stop racism

[Tony D]
There's a handful of people I'm unable to reach
It's like tryin to find a certain grain of sand on the beach
A few friends of mine said it's a worthless cause
Like Run-D.M.C., it'll only "Pause"
and keep goin, some people will remain prejudiced
It's my job to make 'em see through the fog in their midst
Would it suffice this is the church, and this is the steeple
There's many religions, but there's only two people
That's man and woman, and woman and man
And if I can I'ma make 'em understand
That twenty years after Martin Luther King
It's still the same 'ol thing
We fed the world, and saved the farms
We even greeted the homeless with open arms
But when it comes to racism and apartheid
The people run away and try to hide
That's not the answer, the problem can be solved by you
I'm doin mine, now what you gonna do?
Stop racism

[Tony D]
Yo, the message I send is racism MUST end
Not only in South Africa but here in the U.S.
and everywhere else in the country in the world
on the planet for that matter y'knahmsayin?
Blacks and whites, reds, greens, yellows, oranges
Everybody must live, AS ONE, as man is supposed to be
And from Tony D, I'm outta here, harmony for the 90'

I think that this music help to unite between the people because every people from others nationalities and cultures will listen this music and they may believe that is good message to minimize the racism and the positive discrimination and finally love each other’s.
